Samsung has unveiled its two new Windows 8 powered tablets, Ativ Q and Ativ Tab 3, in its press event in London. The Ativ Q is a convertible device that allows users to experience both Windows 8 and Android OS and switch between the two operating systems. Android apps can be accessed only through Google Play Store, but the device also allow data transfer from Windows 8 to Android. Ativ Q gives a perfect mobile and PC experience.
Ativ Q is powered by the new Intel Haswell Core i5 CPU. It features a 13.3 inch touchscreen, 3200 x 1800 display, 4GB of DDR3 RAM, 128GB SSD and a 720p HD camera. The screen is viewable in full sunlight with an impressive horizontal view angle of 178 degrees. Samsung also had a great improvement on battery with Ativ Q’s 9 hours battery life. It also comes with a hinge that is designed for four modes: (1) tablet mode, wherein the device is laid over the keyboard, (2) laptop mode, wherein the screen is raised to reveal the keyboard, (3) above, wherein the screen is adjusted to an angle and (4) right, wherein the screen is flipped in the stand mode to watch movies.
Meanwhile, the Ativ Tab 3, is a 10.1 inch Atom Z2760-powered Windows 8 tablet. It is regarded as the world’s thinnest Windows 8 tablet at 8.2mm. It features a 1366×768 display, 2GB RAM, 64GB storage, a 720p HD camera and 10 hours of battery life. It also comes bundled with a full version of Microsoft Office 2013.
Both Ativ Q and Ativ Tab 3 include an S Pen and SideSync. SideSync allows users to sync their tablets to their Samsung smartphones. The PC keyboard is best for mobile texting, viewing maps and displaying photos and videos on larger screen.
